She has a tough job, working long hours. Sometimes she has to be on night duty. She has to remain alert at all times, keeping her eye on each patient and his or her condition. In case of emergency, she quickly calls the doctor on duty. In the wards, she checks temperature and administers medicines to all the patients.

Sometimes, she needs to give medicine through injections to patients. She has to fill in their charts regularly, with the latest information. When the doctor is on his rounds, she keeps him informed about the patient’s condition.

Since there are so many patients she has to look after, Mary does not get enough time to rest and relax. But she always has a smile on her face, which makes it easy for her to deal with her patients. Like Mary, there are many other nurses at the hospital.

She lives in the nurses quarters within the hospital itself.
